I never updated about Conan after the last session. I haven’t written in a while, actually thought I was giving up on blogging but I had a change of heart.

Conan had three sessions all up. His second session was in September and last session was in November 2024 (writing this in March 2025). After his last session, the vet said he is in remission! Great news. His eye looks so much better, it’s night and day, and he has been enjoying life as he should.
Session #1
(September 16th)
I wrote about what happened right after session #1 here. Basically, this is what happened after each session, as a result of the anesthesia and effects of the chemo. He was better after the 5th day, and was almost back to his normal self. This is how he looked after the first session

After his follow up appointment, we booked the next session in straight away for 2 weeks later. We also decided to zap his nose and ear as there were concerning scabs there too.
Session #2
(September 30th)
After the second session, he recovered well, though the zap to the ear and nose proved particularly painful for him. His face was extremely swollen, more than the first session, and his ear was very scabbed. The swelling did go down after a couple weeks and he was starting to be more himself again. About 3 weeks later, a part of his ear fell off where it was zapped. Not to worry, it just scabbed and fell off. I’m not worried about it, it didn’t seem to bother him either after the swelling went down. His ear is better off without the cancerous part.

(See above photo for after scab fell off)

His nose healed up fine and you can hardly tell anything happened. His eye of course healed well. He had a month off, then we found out he needed another session after the vet oncologist said he had a lump she was worried about in his lower eyelid still. So he went for a third session, just his eye this time. I didn’t want to put him through anymore extra zapping.
Session #3
(November 30th)
This session was business as usual. He went in, did the procedure, and after he got home he healed quicker than the first few times. It was like he didn’t want to deal with this anymore he was in a rush to just go back to living his life again.

He healed really well though! I was amazed with how well the electrochemotherapy worked. Well worth it. Here is a before and after just for comparison.

Conans cancer at its worst – 22 August 24

4 months after last session – April 2025
Life in remission
Over the last few months he hasn’t had any issues. Fingers crossed he stays on a good path!
This is Conan at Christmas. He was Santa Claus for 2024.
For about 5 minutes.

Tbh I actually don’t like the idea of dressing up animals but just in a weird festive mood and wanted a photo of him in this hat (you just have to be quick for the photo). I guess I was happy about how well Conan did, compared to all the anxiety I had before starting the treatment.
Anyway, maybe you’re reading this because your cat has the same cancer or needs this kind of treatment. I can reassure you that the pain is definitely temporary and after they heal, if they respond well, then it’s definitely worth it. Just seeing Conan now, he’s more comfortable, isn’t constantly annoyed by his eye, has a new chance just living his best life. He hasn’t been in any pain since the week of his third session. So I recommend it if you can afford it.
