Introducing Gomez

Here’s what I want you to know. If you ever thought about owning a carnivorous plant but were afraid to do it. Just do it. Seeing Morticia devour bugs now and then for almost a year has brought me great joy.

Update on Morticia

So, I managed to re-pot Morty and bravely did it during the winter last year. There was pros and cons. First, after re-potting, she lost all her mature traps. She was like a baby fly trap again. On the pro side, she still managed to grow many more traps, they were very small at first but she thrived! I re-potted her in a pot one size larger, with peat moss and perlite.

Gomez

Last week, I was at Bunnings once again on an errand for my dad. And once again, I saw venus fly traps. Without a second thought, I picked up Gomez. He looked really healthy! I will re-pot him in a month or so once he is settled in, the same thing I did with Morty. I’m really excited to have a second one. This could be the start of a collection of carnivorous plants. I’m thinking if I ever come across a pitcher plant, they will be the next victim.
